New Medical School Picks Michigan Firm's Student Information System

ROCHESTER - When Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine welcomes its inaugural class this fall, it will do so with new software to manage its student and academic information thanks to the Empower Student Information System.

"The Empower Student Information System met our critical standards," said Dr. Robert McAuley, associate dean for educational technology at the medical school. "In addition, the flexibility of the software and supporting database gives us the ability to create custom enhancements at manageable costs. This made it the perfect choice for the school. The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine believes in the importance of local partnerships and is excited to be working with Empower, a Michigan based company, on this project."

The software manages multiple degrees, narrative grading, committee-based admissions, peer evaluation, complex scheduling, on-line courses, and extensive institutional research functions.

Said Empower president Robert Brender: "We donated the software license to Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine to underscore our commitment to this major addition to Michigan higher education."

Empower is a fully integrated student information system supporting the management needs of colleges and universities. Its modular design supports ease and efficiency in recruitment, admissions, records and registration, degree audit, financial aid, alumni relations and many more. Empower is available to license or use on a software-as-a-service basis depending on the technical needs of a particular institution. Empower offers implementation, training, conversion, support, maintenance and ongoing updates.
