Native Detroiter Harry Morgan of M-A-S-H Fame Dies
(CBS Detroit) M-A-S-H star Harry Morgan, a native Detroiter who graduated in 1933 from Muskegon High School, died Wednesday at the age of 96 at his Brentwood home. He was born April 10, 1915, in Detroit.
Morgan reportedly suffered from pneumonia.
Best known for his performance as Col. Sherman Potter, Morgan made more than 50 films, appeared on television during its Golden Age, and played on Broadway. He earned an Emmy award for M-A-S-H in 1980. Less known is the fact Morgan won a statewide debating championship at Ann Arbor's Hill Auditorium as a high school junior.
His later co-stars were some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Henry Fonda, Karl Malden, John Wayne, James Garner and Elvis Presley.
Morgan is survived by sons Charles, Paul and Christopher, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
