MSU Edges Michigan 3-2
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Matt Berry's power-play goal early in the third period proved to be the game-winner as Michigan State rallied from two goals down to beat rival Michigan 3-2 Friday in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
Berry scored from close in at 4:07 of the third period to give the Spartans (16-11-4, 11-9-3-2) their first win over the fourth-ranked Wolverines (17-10-4, 11-8-4-1) this season. Michigan had gone 1-0-1 in the regular season and beat the Spartans in the Great Lake Invitational title game.
Torey Krug scored two goals and assisted on the game-winner for 17th-ranked Michigan State.
The Spartans killed off a power play and an extended period down the stretch in which Michigan had an extra attacker. Will Yanakeff made 28 saves.
Michigan grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals by A.J. Treais and Kevin Lynch in the second period.
Shawn Hunwick made 27 saves for the Wolverines.
