In The Market For A New Pet? Adoption Fees Waived This Weekend
GRAND RAPIDS (CBS Detroit) Potential pet parents are advised that this could be the weekend to adopt a new best friend -- because the Bissell Pet Foundation is footing the bill for the adoption fee.
Dozens of cats and dogs who need forever homes are just waiting for you at the Humane Society of West Michigan and at Van Buren County Animal Control. Bissell Pet Foundation hopes to help more than 50 west Michigan cats and dogs find forever homes on Saturday, Aug. 13.
They'll also thank families for choosing adoption with the gift of an AdoptBox, with goodies like leashes, water bowls, even a free pet toothbrush.
"We hope all the pets in these locations will start a new life in a loving home on August 13th," says Cathy Bissell, founder of Bissell Pet Foundation. "We are so grateful to those who open their hearts to help a cat or dog in need by choosing adoption."
Families that choose adoption at these locations on August 13th will only be responsible for licensing fees, which vary by county from $7 to $12. Bissell Pet Foundation will take care of all adoption fees, which average $150 for dogs and $60 for cats.
In addition to a new best friend, every adopting family will take home a Bissell Pet Foundation AdoptBox. BPF teamed up with Bissell, Meijer and Pet First Insurance to stock each AdoptBox with toys and treats for either dogs or cats, a selection of Bissell cleaning products, coupons and 30 days of free pet insurance. A wellness booklet outlines the best care and keeping of animals in regards to veterinarian visits, vaccines and preventative medicine. And to encourage more pet adoptions, BPF will give an AdoptBox™ to everyone who adopts at these locations between August 13th-31st.
