Handyman Charged In Death Of Metro Detroit Interior Designer

GROSSE POINTE FARMS (WWJ/AP) — A handyman accused of stabbing a Detroit-area interior designer has been charged with murder after the victim died weeks after the attack.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says the murder charge was added Friday against David Corzilius, two days after the death of Daniel Clancy of Grosse Pointe Farms.

Clancy had been in a hospital with neck wounds since March 6. A message seeking comment from defense attorney Tim Doty wasn't immediately returned.

Corzilius told police that he became upset because Clancy had touched his buttocks. Doty says Corzilius has a history of drug problems and mental health issues. His next court hearing is June 8.

Corzilius told police he had shoveled snow for the 69-year-old Clancy a day before the stabbing.

On March 6, authorities say, Corzilius demanded money from Clancy, hit him in the face and bound his hands with duct tape at his 8,400 square foot home on Voltaire Place, near Kercheval and Moross.

Prosecutors claim that Corzilius then slashed Clancy's neck, ransacked his home and stole valuable paintings and other items.
