Forecast: More Rain On The Way For ALCS
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Tigers just can't seem to outrun the rain. And Thursday's Game 5 of the ALCS doesn't appear to be any different, with more rain in the forecast.
Following rain delays during the ALDS when the Tigers were in New York, Game 1 of the ALCS in Texas was delayed by rain not once, but twice this past Saturday. The threat of rain Sunday night then forced the postponement of Game 2 to Monday. The rain then followed the teams back to Detroit, when Wednesday's Game 4 started over two hours late due to the downpour.
Now, players, coaches and fans are hoping that Thursday's game won't start with a rain delay, but Mother Nature may have other plans in mind.
After a foggy morning and a slight chance of showers and light drizzle throughout the early afternoon, forecasters are expecting a 40 percent chance of rain right around the scheduled time of the first pitch at 4:19 p.m.
Lori Pinson, Meteorologist with WWJ-TV First Forecast Mornings, said while initial showers can be spotty and brief, they could be followed by a steadier band of rain, which is expected to last into the night.
"An area of low pressure is responsible for this bout of rain. It will move east throughout the day increasing our chances for rain," Pinson said.
"By first pitch, there may be scattered showers nearby, but a steadier rain will develop as we move toward evening and overnight. Temperatures will stay consistent, 61 to 66 to start. Dropping off to the mid and upper 50s to finish," Pinson continued.
Whatever the case, the Tigers are in a do-or-die situation. They head into Game 5 down 3-1 to the Rangers. Catch up on post-season coverage with 97.1 The Ticket.
