US Farathane to close Troy facility in June; affecting 180 workers
TROY, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - U.S. Farathane will close its facility in Troy, impacting about 180 employees, according to a notice that company officials have filed with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
Hourly, technical and office employees involved will be affected between March 28 and the closure date on June 30. The Troy facility at 750 W. Maple Road employes about 157 hourly employees, 17 salary employees and four temporary workers; there also are two employees currently on medical leave.
"Affected employees will have the opportunity to apply and interview for open positions at our other Southeast Michigan plants," the letter said.
The company has several locations in Michigan; in addition to sites in Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, China and Mexico.
The WARN act requires companies going through mass layoffs and / or site closures to issue advance public notice to the state's labor department, should that step meet certain requirements for the size of company or number of people involved.
