Eyes On Design Celebrates Beautiful Cars
GROSSE POINTE -- (WWJ) Car design is at the heart of a Detroit area summer tradition. More than 200 vehicles will be a part of the annual "Eyes on Design" event, Fathers Day weekend at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House.
"It's an international celebration of great automotive design of the the past, the present and the future," says Dr. Phillip Hessburg, one of the events founders.

Eyes on Design is a fundraiser for Hessburg's Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. Money raised goes into vision related research.
Hessburg says tying that into a design related car show is a natural.
Eyes on Design will feature more than 200 vehicles, divided into 15 themed collections.
"One of the most popular, I think, is going to be a collection of 1932 Ford vehicles," Hessburg said. "I think they call that the deuce."
Eyes on Design is a weekend full of events, culminating with the car show itself on Sunday, June 17th. Saturday evening will include a gala that honors legendary designers. This year's lifetime achievement award goes to Chris Bangle, who's known for ground breaking BMW designs.
There will be a legendary guest on Sunday, car collector Margaret Dunning of Plymouth.
"She's 102 years old," said Hessburg. "The vehicle is a 1930 Packard 749. She's owned it for 60 years, and she drives it herself."
