Detroit Tigers Valued At $1.125 Billion

Mike Ilitch purchased the Tigers for $82 million in 1992. Now, the franchise is worth $1.125 billion.

Forbes released their annual MLB team value rankings for 2015 and the Tigers checked in at number 13, with a $1.125 billion value. This figure is drastically up from the $680 million value that Forbes placed on the franchise in 2014

Detroit's revenue is listed as $254 million, while their player expenses climbed to $184 million, which is up from $163 million last year.

One interesting figure is their operating income, which is in the red at a negative $20.7 million. In 2014, it was at $7.5 million.

The Tigers generated $84 million in gate, their revenue per fan figure is $44, and they do have a 15% debt value.

They are the highest valued AL Central team.

The top 3 highest valued franchises are the Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox.
