Despite Warm Temps, Mount Clemens Ice Sculpture Show Still A Go

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - The seventh annual Mount Clemens Ice Carving Show will still take place this weekend despite the unusually warm temperatures.

Arthur Mullen, executive director of the Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority, said the ice carvings were done at Macomb Community College's culinary arts program and stored in a freezer. The carvings will be placed on display Friday.

Mullen said the sculptures will be placed on the south side of Macomb Place to maximize the shade and keep the sculptures out of the sun.

Ice carving demonstrations will be held noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, all on the Fountain Stage on Macomb Place between Walnut and Pine streets.

The event will also include a warming station, magic show and a putt-putt golf course. Some of the activities carry an entry fee.
