Debate Over Mich. Gov. Debates Continues

The two men running for governor in Michigan appear to have agreed to hold three debates, but they can't quite agree on the dates.

A memo from Republican Rick Snyder's campaign shows he'd prefer to wrap up debates by Oct. 7. Democrat Virg Bernero's campaign says Friday that it wants to hold the final debate on Oct. 12.

The two campaigns apparently are in sync over having one debate before the Detroit Economic Club and another on public television.

Snyder's campaign wants to hold a third debate at CBS affiliate WWTV in northern Michigan, while Bernero's campaign prefers a Flint or Traverse City commercial station.

Both sides would like debates to start in two weeks or less, so negotiations need to wrap up soon.
