David Brandon Did The Right Thing
I'm not sure why people are thinking that David Brandon and the University of Michigan have screwed up this whole Rich Rod situation. I think to this point it has been handled correctly. To make sure you have the widest range of coaching replacements at your disposal, it made perfect sense to me that they waited until after the Bowl game to fire Rodriguez.
As far as the initial 3 hour meeting that didn't result in the actual firing until the next day, nothing wrong there either as he wanted to sleep on it before making his ultimate decision to move in a new direction. The fact that there was rampant speculation only shows that UM is still of paramount interest nationally and that they need to take their time with the process of hiring a new coach.
Now UM can open up the store and say they are interested in all that are qualified, and with a reported offer of $5.2-million per year to Jim Harbaugh, they should be prepared for an impressive amount of resumes. My gut feeling is that the job goes to Brady Hoke, it's not sexy, but in the long run would be the right hire.
