Davalor Mold Company closing Macomb County site, 45 jobs to be lost
A plastics manufacturing site in Macomb County, Michigan, is shutting down, with 45 people to be laid off as a result.
Davalor Mold Company LLC recently filed a WARN Act notice with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity that it will permanently close its site at 46480 Continental Drive, New Baltimore. Layoff dates are expected to range from Oct. 3 to Nov. 7.
Davalor Mold Company specialized in plastic injection molding design, tooling and production, according to its website.
The reason cited in the notice for the layoff was "financial trouble," more specifically, "Davlor Mold Company LLC is closing due to a downturn in business resulting in a significant loss of revenue. The company is unable to support operations going forward."
The list of positions include 11 salary and 34 hourly staff. None of the affected roles are union jobs, the notice said.
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, also known as the WARN Act, requires companies going through mass layoffs and/or site closures to issue advance public notice to the state's labor department, should that step meet certain requirements for the size of the company or the number of people involved.
