HAMBURG TWP (WWJ) Another clue emerged late Wednesday in the case of the missing Livingston County mother and daughter, Amanda Hayward, 30, and Sapphire Palmer, 7. They haven't been seen since early this week.
A Hamburg Township police officer assigned to the Livingston and Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team (LAWNET) located Hayward's black 2001 Chevrolet Prizm in Ypsilanti Township on Wednesday evening, according to a news released from the Hamburg Township Police Department. The vehicle was unoccupied.
WWJ's Ron Dewey says the circumstances surrounding their disappearance are baffling.
Police say Hayward and Palmer were last seen leaving their home in Hamburg Township, south of Brighton, at 3 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Chilson and Bishop Lake Roads.
Hayward's purse—with cash and credit cards still inside -- had previously been found alongside the road several miles away.
Amanda is described as having long strawberry blonde hair and medium build.
Sapphire has long red hair last seen wearing a purple night gown.
Anyone with any information on where they are is asked to call police immediately at 810-231-9391.
"OMG praying that they are ok," wrote Jill Jamojcin on the police department's Facebook page.
