Bright House Networks of Michigan Adds OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network

Bright House Networks of Michigan announced Thursday that it has added OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network to its channel lineup.

OWN will be available to all Bright House Networks' digital customers in Standard Definition on channel 136 on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel. The network will also be available in High Definition in February on channel 336. 

"We are committed to providing the highest quality programming to our customers and are excited to add OWN to our lineup," said Robert McCann, president of Bright House Networks Detroit.  "The programming on OWN is everything that Oprah has stood for the past 25 years, and we are thrilled to offer her new endeavor to our customers."

OWN has announced over 20 original series to-date, including Ask Oprah's All Stars, where viewers can ask questions and seek advice from such Oprah All Stars as Dr. Phil, Suze Orman and Dr. Mehmet Oz and The Gayle King Show in which King offers her unique perspective on an array of topics ranging from current events and cultural trends to politics and more. 

Other original series joining the channel at launch include: Cristina Ferrare's Big Bowl of Love; Enough Already! With Peter Walsh; In the Bedroom with Dr. Laura Berman; Kidnapped by the Kids; Miracle Detectives; Oprah Presents Master Class; Oprah's Guide to OWN: The New Oprah Winfrey Network; Season 26: Oprah Behind the Scenes; and Your Own Show: Oprah's Search For the Next TV Star.

Additionally, OWN will feature movies and original documentaries including the critically acclaimed, award-winning Precious, as well as Family Affair, Sons of Perdition and Life 2.0.. OWN is also producing original two-hour documentaries with Julia Roberts, Forest Whitaker, Gabriel Byrne and Mariel Hemingway including, Extraordinary Moms, One Last Shot, Tent City and Seven Suicides.

Bright House Networks is the sixth largest owner and operator of cable systems in the U.S. In Michigan, it serves Farmington, Farmington Hills, Livonia, Novi and Redford Township. It also has systems in Florida, Alabama, Indiana and California, and a total of 2.4 million customers.
