4 People Found Dead On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - An investigation is underway after four people were found dead at a business on Detroit's west side.

Police said the bodies were discovered inside Unlimited Towing — a towing and tire repair shop — in the 8800 block of Fenkell, near the Lodge Freeway and Wyoming, late Wednesday morning.

It's believed that the four people died of carbon monoxide poisoning; but that information was not immediately confirmed by police who are still investigating. Some reports say that a carbon monoxide leak may have resulted from a power generator bring used inside the building.

A friend of one of the victims, who didn't want to give her name, said that the four had been missing for a couple of days.

"Just a friend called us and said that they found them over there," she told WWJ's Stephanie Davis, as she was gathered with other friends and family members outside the shop. "Yeah, we were looking (for them). People were looking since Monday...They'd been in there since Monday."

Arson investigators along with a DTE Energy crew were with Detroit police at the scene, into the afternoon.

No details were immediately released about the victims, including gender and age.
