3 Reasons The Tigers Have Lacked Consistency This Season
By: Pat Caputo
1. Delmon Young and Brennan Boesch are not without talent, but their on-base percentages this season are .297 and .281, respectively. That is amazingly low for major league regulars.
2. Tiger starting pitchers Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello have had their moments, but the bottom line is they have both been below the major league average in ERA and WHIP (walks per innings pitched) this season.
3. Shortstop Jhonny Peralta and catcher Alex Avila have provided about half the expected run production.
