Wear Blue On Wednesday For Child Abuse Prevention Month
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver's City and County Building, along with other select buildings around the metro area will be adorned with giant blue ribbons in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The ribbons are provided by the Kempe Foundation as Mayor Michael Hancock and Denver Human Services will "Paint the City Blue" to bring awareness of the issue.
"Child abuse is a tragedy that affects too many of our families both here in Denver and nationally," Hancock said in a statement. "To deliver a world-class city where everyone matters, we must look at ways we can better prevent these terrible events while protecting and supporting our children with strong services and programs."
Denver residents are encouraged to wear blue on Paint the City Blue Day on Wednesday.
Awareness and vigilance is not limited to the month of April. To report suspected child abuse or neglect in Denver, please call DHS' 24-hour hotline at (720) 944-3000.
