Suspicious Fire Damages Cars On CSU's Campus

FORT COLLINS, Colo (CBS4) - Investigators in Fort Collins are calling a series of fires that burned four vehicles overnight suspicious.

The fires happened sometime before 2:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Plum Street near a Colorado State University campus facility. They wound up damaging components of a natural gas line in a university housing services building nearby.

Two of the vehicles that caught fire were completely destroyed. The other two have extensive damage, according to investigators with the Poudre Fire Authority.

"It's always a shame when something like this damages property and certainly impacts everyone from university personnel, to fire personnel," CSU spokesperson Brad Bohlander said. "If it turns out to be foul play in any way, that certainly makes this much more troubling."

So far there's no description available of a suspect or suspects in the case.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to call the Colorado Arson Hotline at (877) 892-7766 or (877) 89-ARSON.
