See Smoke In Summit County? Pile Burning Operations Taking Place

(CBS4) - If you see smoke on Wednesday coming from the snowy mountain areas near Frisco, don't call 911. A burn operation is taking place in the Miner's Creek area.

That's next to Rainbow Lake, which is south of downtown Frisco.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office put out a warning about the pile burning operations on Facebook on Wednesday morning.

"The piles are the result of past thinning work to reduce fuels for wildfire," U.S. Forest Service wrote.

The mountains around the Frisco area picked up close to a foot of snow last weekend. That will be a big help in improving the snowpack there at the end of the snow season.
