Smoke From Switch Station Fire Seen For Miles
Black smoke from a switch station fire in North Aurora could be seen burning for miles Sunday afternoon.
The fire began around 2:15 p.m. Sunday at the switch station near 32nd and Chambers in Aurora.
Firefighters were on the scene at 3 p.m. and were preparing to spray the switch station with a foam substance used for electrical fires.
The station belongs to Xcel Energy. Xcel said no customers have lost power because of the fire.
Xcel Energy crews have de-energized the station.
There are no reports of injuries.
