Officers from Denver police and Aurora police joined with Greenwood Village police in the response at Dayton Station. They asked that people avoid the area.

A shelter-in-place order was issued first at apartments near the light rail station, then the area south of Hampden Avenue and Tamarac Drive, where police used a drone and dog to seek out a suspect. Shortly after 6 p.m., they cleared the scene and ended the shelter-in-place.

The light rail lines were impacted for a brief time by the investigation. Commuters were being taken by bus to get to their connections. By 4:25 p.m. trains appeared to be back moving through the station as normal.
