According to a Thornton PD press release on Monday, the teen was walking near the school around 11:20 a.m. when surveillance video appeared to show the suspect grabbing the victim. She resisted, and the suspect left the area.

Thornton police said the surveillance video showed the suspect and provided crucial details about the suspect and the vehicle associated with the suspect.

Thornton police said they wanted to thank the community for their commitment to helping them find the suspect.

"We want to express our sincere gratitude to the courageous members of the community who responded to our requests for assistance and provided the crucial and critical information that directly led to Mr. Houseman's swift apprehension," Thornton Police Division Cmdr. Tom Connor said.

Police and Adams 12 Five Star Schools are working together to keep the Thornton Middle School campus and the surrounding area safe following this attempted abduction.

"Students and families are encouraged to stay alert and take simple precautions, such as walking in groups, reporting suspicious behavior, and reviewing safe walking routes," the police department said in its press release. "Students should avoid approaching unknown individuals or vehicles, trust their instincts, and seek help immediately if they feel unsafe. Parents and guardians are urged to review safety tips with their children."

Anyone with information about the attempted abduction or the suspect is asked to contact the Thornton Police Department Investigations Division at 720-977-5030. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
