Mother Of Murder Victim Helps At Project Safeguard
BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - A Broomfield mother whose teenage daughter was killed more than two years ago is stepping up to save the lives of other teens.
Thirteen-year-old Kelsey Shannon's body was found in a drainage ditch in January of 2009. Her ex-boyfriend, then 18-year-old Alexander Pacheco, is serving a 48-year sentence for second-degree murder.
Kelsey's mother, Dottie, will speak at Project Safeguard's annual Valentine's Day fling fundraiser on Saturday. The event works to end domestic violence.
Dottie hopes to start speaking to middle schoolers to teach them what makes a good relationship.
