Mayor Hancock Announces Launch Of 'Better Buildings Denver'

DENVER (CBS4) - There's a new push to make buildings in Denver more energy efficient.

On Monday Mayor Michael Hancock announced the launch of "Better Buildings Denver."

The mayor says the city is taking on President Obama's challenge to reduce energy consumption in city buildings 20 percent by 2020.

"To deliver a world-class city where everyone matters we must create a more sustainable Denver," Hancock said. "One that is built to serve generations that you and I may never meet."

The mayor says last year energy-saving measures cut city utility bills and saved taxpayers $1.5 million.
