Man Suspected In Fondling, Sex Harassment Cases Near CU Campus
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - CU police suspect a man committed unwelcomed sexual advances toward five female students at the University of Colorado recently and attempted to fondle one of them.
Students reported four separate incidents at the main CU campus near the Euclid AutoPark on Monday afternoon.
One told police the suspect approached her at approximately 3 p.m. and asked for directions to a building on campus. He then followed her to a building and made numerous comments of a sexual nature to her, police said.
A half hour later, a suspect with a similar description approached a second woman and again asked for directions. He then followed her to an off-campus sorority house and back to campus. He attempted to touch her breasts and kiss her, police said.
"The level (of activity) is moving up, the frequency is moving up so that's very disconcerting to us," CU police spokesman Sgt. Michael Lowry said.
Police said a third similar incident occurred on Nov. 19.
They described the suspect as a white male, about 20 to 25 years old, 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-3, and 180 to 200 pounds. He has buzzed blond hair on the sides that's longer on the top.
It's unknown if he's a student. The university notified students about the incidents with an email blast.
"That's definitely scary, and that's why whenever we go anywhere, we walk together in big groups to take care of each other," student Abby Cruz said.
Anyone with information is asked to call CU police at 303-492-6666. There is a Crime Stoppers award for $2,000 leading to an arrest.
