Man Gets Life In Prison For Bludgeoning Death In Lakewood

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — A man who was convicted of bludgeoning another man to death with a flashlight as he slept in a home in Lakewood has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office says 32-year-old Charlie Brammeier was sentenced Friday for the death of 43-year-old Timothy Gomez. Brammeier was convicted in April of first-degree murder, burglary, robbery and motor vehicle theft.

Prosecutors say he beat Gomez on Aug. 4, 2014, causing a traumatic head injury, multiple facial fractures and subdural bleeding. Gomez died Aug. 22, 2014.

Brammeier testified he was angry about a $20 drug transaction, and that he was in a crack-cocaine induced psychosis when he bludgeoned Gomez.

After the assault, Brammeier broke into his parents' Larkspur home, stole some items and fled Colorado. He was arrested in Texas.
