Man Charged With Sex Assault At Denver Airport

DENVER (CBS4/AP) -- A Portland man suspected of raping a 22-year-old woman at Denver International Airport has been charged with one count of sexual assault.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey said Tuesday he has filed the charge against 26-year-old Noel Bertrand.

Officials say the woman was assaulted on April 12 shortly after midnight after missing a flight. They say she met a man while waiting at an airport restaurant and was attacked at an empty gate.

Two airline employees on the tarmac saw the incident through a window and intervened.

Surveillance footage from DIA shows a flurry of activity near the area where the attack allegedly happened on Concourse A.

Police said Bertrand was choking the victim by tightening her shirt collar across her throat.

Bertrand is being held on a $50,000 bond. He is set for a hearing Thursday, when a public defender is expected to be named to represent him.
