Living For Today
"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way. Something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
~Fr. Alfred D'Souza
I read this and thought better late than never.
I spent the first 15 years of my adult life always living (working) for the future.
How can I get a better, bigger story at work?
What can I do to get that promotion; come in on my days off, work holidays and weekends?
Which city do I need to move to next?
I lived my days truly not in that day – but always planning for the next – better day ahead.
In the past few years – especially this past year - I was bestowed the gift of living for "today."
This moment – the only one we can hold onto – is as beautiful – thoughtful – and as remarkable as we allow it to be.
