Potential Record Heat Thursday

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -Our warm temperature trend is now in it's fifth day! Temperatures once again climbed close to 80 degrees for the Denver area.

We'll be even warmer on Thursday, with a daily record high in jeopardy. The record high temperature in Denver for Thursday (May 10) is 86° set in 1991. It looks like we should break that by a degree or two.

There will again be a slight chance for a mountain thunderstorm Thursday, and for parts of the plains and northern Colorado. Our far northeast corner could potentially see an isolated severe thunderstorm.

Friday, a cold front drops through and cools us off about ten degrees. We'll be cloudy and see a chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms for the Front Range.

Then a relatively small chance for showers will continue from Friday night through Saturday night. Saturday may include a few brief showers but most outdoor activities will be able to proceed without a problem. Mother's Day looks nice with highs in the upper 70s and clouds. Perfect day to celebrate your Mom!
