Monday Evening Storms, Then Right Back To Blazing Heat

By Justin McHeffey

DENVER (CBS4) – We cooled off by over 20 degrees on Monday thanks to a cold front that moved through the area. Thunderstorms in the foothills and parts of metro Denver were a welcome sight as the state has dried out over the past several days.

The heat wave returns on Tuesday. A hot southerly airmass takes control of the Front Range and we could be talking record highs once again. The record for June 21 in Denver is 99 degrees, we'll come close by the afternoon. Look for lots of sunshine and a breeze from the southeast.

Another cold front will cause temps to drop by 10 degrees on Wednesday. Highs are expected to be in the upper 80s with an isolated storm possible. More moisture works its way into the region by the end of this week with afternoon thunderstorms possible through the weekend. Temps stay in the upper 80s to low 90s Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
