Judge: County Agencies Can't Be Sued For Negligence In Child Abuse Case
DENVER (CBS4) - A federal judge has ruled two county agencies and some of their employees cannot be sued for negligence in a child abuse case.
Seven-year-old Chandler Grafner died of starvation in 2007 when he was living with two foster parents.
Jon Philips and Sarah Barry are both serving prison sentences.
Grafner's biological parents tried to sue both Jefferson and Denver counties, as well as two employees, for failing to properly investigate reports of abuse in the home.
The judge ruled the counties and the employees have immunity from lawsuits in the case.
