House Approves Home Foreclosure Measure
DENVER (AP) - The Colorado House has approved and sent to the Senate a measure that would help families stay in their homes by giving homeowners facing foreclosure a 90-day time-out to work with their lenders.
The sponsor of the bill, Democratic Rep. Mark Ferrandino says keeping Colorado families in their homes isn't a Democratic or a Republican issue.
Colorado now ranks among the top 10 states for active foreclosures.
Ferrandino says about one in 40 homes statewide are in some stage of foreclosure and there were about 40,000 new foreclosure filings last year.
