Fort Collins Bag Fee Repealed, Now Up For Public Vote
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - The Fort Collins City Council voted Tuesday night to repeal the 5 cent fee charged to shoppers for using disposable bags.
The fee was supposed to go into effect next spring, but opponents started a petition drive to get enough signatures to put the plan up for a public vote.
Opponents collected about 2,600 signatures.
One councilman told The Coloradoan newspaper the petition drive was enough to convince him to repeal the law.
