Deputies Struck As Suspect Tries To Drive Away

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A Fort Collins man has been arrested on charges of hitting sheriff's deputies with a pickup while trying to flee.

Larimer County sheriff's officials say Frank Ray Runyan Jr., 33, was arrested Monday after deputies went to a Fort Collins house on a domestic disturbance call.

Deputies say Runyan tried to drive away in the pickup, striking some deputies and a tree. Authorities say he then fled on foot, eventually returned to his vehicle and tried to drive away again, hitting deputies again.

Deputies say he was arrested during the second attempt. Bond was set at $500,000.

None of the deputies suffered significant injuries. Runyan was treated at the scene for minor injuries. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Authorities say they found methamphetamine in the pickup.
