Denver Councilman Pitches Texting Ban At Meetings
DENVER (AP) - A Denver city councilman is proposing a ban on texting during public hearings.
Councilman Charlie Brown says he's gotten numerous complaints from citizens who say it's rude for council members to be texting when the public testifies during hearings.
Brown says people who go to meetings to testify deserve the City Council's full attention and that sometimes he sees his colleagues texting rather than listening.
Brown will pitch a rule change to council members during a retreat Friday. He says texting during meetings also raises the question of whether officials are violating the open meeting ordinance.
