'Daily Deals For Moms' Website Proving To Be A Success

DENVER (CBS4) - It may be a tough time to start a business but two local mother are bucking the trend -- successfully -- without leaving their home.

The two moms are friends and business partners. In April of last year they launched the website "Daily Deals for Moms." It offers 24-hour discounts from local businesses to local families.

"For instance a restaurant will offer $50 worth of food and drink for $20," co-founder Ashley Kingsley said.

The site could feature good deals on anything like dinner, massages or even carpet cleaning.

"Pretty much when we're looking for something is when we know what the mom community is also looking for," co-founder Whitney Trujillo said.

So far the self-proclaimed "mompreneurs" have 15,000 subscribers. Their goal is to help families save money and at the same time support local businesses by featuring them on the site.

"If a business owner wants to give that extra push than were the people that can help them get that done," Trujillo said.

It's been a labor of love and the success is sometimes overwhelming.

"I think we've poured our hearts and souls into this and other people are starting to see how valuable this is," Kingsley said.

In under a year their business has expanded from Denver to Colorado Springs, Boulder, Boston and Chicago; and more cities are on the horizon.

"I think we want to grow this very much and I think that it's important to keep the heart," Kingsley said.

One way to keep and warm the heart is reading feedback from mothers they've helped.

"I have a new color, a new cut and quite honestly a new attitude about myself. I'm loving it and so is my husband. Thank you," one email said.

The two moms plan to expand the site to Portland, Austin and Toledo in a couple of months.
