Colorado Snowpack Takes A Slight Dip After January Thaw
DENVER (CBS4) - After a week of mild to near record breaking temperatures across Colorado, the latest numbers for statewide snowpack show a slight drop to 81 percent of the median, down from 84 percent the previous week.
All 8 major river basins dropped 2 to 7 percent during the warm spell.
But there is some good news on the way to Colorado's high country as a broad area of low pressure keeps the forecast unsettled into the weekend.
Locally heavy snow is possible in the high country over the next 48 hours where a Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 8 a.m. Friday for portions of the central, southern and southwest mountains.

The forecast is great news because the river basins with the least amount of snowpack are in southern Colorado.
Looking ahead to next week there are indications that even more unsettled weather could be in store for the high country as we start the month of February.
