Bill To Increase Cigarette Tax By 300% Moves Forward In State House
DENVER (CBS4)- A bill to impose a 62 percent tax on vaping products passed the state House committee on Friday. The measure would also raise the cigarette tax by 300 percent.
Gov. Jared Polis called for the tax increase earlier this week.
If it's approved by the state Legislature, it would be sent back to the voters to decide.
Supporters hope it will keep teens from smoking and vaping.
The measure heads to the full House next week.
