CDOT Continues Work On Bridge At I-70 & 32nd Avenue
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) – Two lanes of westbound Interstate 70 at 32nd Avenue were closed Monday morning after Colorado Department of Transportation crews returned to work on the bridge after taking the weekend off.
CDOT calls the work on the bridge "emergency rehab" for the $1.9 million project, which was moved up. Crews were previously working on the eastbound lanes.
The work is designed to extend the life of the bridge for 10 to 15 more years.
CDOT says they know the repairs are happening during a busy travel time over the holidays, so that's why they are doing most of the work on the weekdays instead of the weekends when holiday travelers will hit the road.
Alternate routes for westbound travelers are Highway 58, 6th Avenue or Colfax Avenue.
The work should conclude on Friday.
