Broncos Find Unexpected Hero In Shiloh Keo

DENVER (CBS4) - So many times the Denver Broncos defense has made that big play this year, but against the San Diego Chargers many didn't expect it from Shiloh Keo.

Keo intercepted Phillip Rivers with the score tied at 20 in the fourth quarter. Ronnie Hillman ran the ball for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown on the very next play.

Keo spent the first three months of the season unemployed, but as the Broncos injuries piled up they needed another safety. On Sunday, in just his fourth game with the team, Keo made his biggest impact as a Bronco.

"It was exciting, I'll tell you that much," Keo told CBS4's Mark Haas. "You know I was just doing my job. I was in the third trying to keep everything in front of me … all the other 10 guys were doing their part, had a little rush going, he just floated the ball and I just capitalized on it."

Keo said it's been great to join a team in mid-season and still get such a big role on the team.

"It's been awesome … I come in here and join the number one defense in the league," he said. "You know, what an opportunity. and to just see how these guys work on and off the field, there's just this level of expectation that it doesn't matter who is out there. They're expecting you to do your job first, and then come down with big plays when the opportunities present themselves, and I got an opportunity and I'm just thankful for that."

Keo said it's an amazing feeling to know that the playoffs now come through Denver after the Broncos grabbed the No. 1 seed.

"We knew in the back of our minds what we were playing for out there. We had some help with the Dolphins, but we just came out here and did our job," Keo said. "Now we've got to take it to the next game."
