Boys & Girls Club Members Take High-Flying Trip

DENVER (CBS4)- The annual Care 4 Colorado Toy Drive is under way once again.

CBS4 is partnering with King Soopers and Colorado Boys and Girls Clubs to help every child have a joyous holiday season by collecting and distributing 12,000 toys in the next three weeks.

Local businesses get involved by donating their services to give those kids an opportunity they may not otherwise have.

Some members of the Boys and Girls Club were ready to fly this week at the wind tunnel at SkyVenture in Lone Tree. The 120 mph winds turned average teens into super heroes.

SkyVenture offers hundreds of free flights to Boys and Girls Club members. This year they're also collecting toys.

"The emphasis on Christmas time is really important because that's a time of year when they can feel left out. There's so much going on for the other kids and it's nice to bring them up to that level," said SkyVenture spokesman Bob Burke.

This holiday season CBS4 and King Soopers are teaming up to collect new toys and cash donations for children and youth served by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. King Soopers will be collecting new toys at all Metro Area locations through December 23rd.
