Boulder Woman Accused Of Extortion Could Face 4 Years In Prison

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- A woman from Boulder is accused of extortion. She could face four years behind bars.

Abigail Suber was in a car accident in April with a driver who had no license. They claim Suber was at fault, but she threatened to call immigration authorities if the man didn't pay her $400.

The other driver and his wife said Suber then demanded another $800 when they stopped payment on two checks after calling a lawyer.

Prosecutors said Suber left a threatening voice mail demanding the money. Police released a portion of that call, "I will go ahead and send my immigration lawyer and police over your way to go ahead and collect the check. I will be calling them tomorrow morning."

Federal authorities may also investigate the immigration status of the other driver.
