Body Found In Dumpster Inside Building's Basement

DENVER (CBS4) - A man was found dead in a dumpster inside a Denver building on Friday.

Denver police said the man's name is not known so far but they said he was white and believed to be in his 50s. Authorities called the death suspicious.

The 10 story building is located at 860 Clermont, just east of Colorado Boulevard, and the dumpster was in the basement. There are apartments inside the building, as well as trash chutes on each floor that lead to the basement dumpster.

Officers were searching the building floor by floor for clues on Friday at midday.

"We're looking at how this individual ended up down in the dumpster area, so that's what we're looking at. We've got a lot of work to do, a lot of floors to comb, a lot of people to talk to. When you have a big apartment building like that there are a lot of people you need to speak with," said Denver Police Dept. spokesman Sonny Jackson.

The coroner was called to the scene.

There was no immediate word on how the body got in the dumpster.
