Bear Spotted Touring Mesa Verde Ruins

MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - An unexpected visitor was caught on camera at Mesa Verde's Spring House.

A bear decided to take a self-guided tour of the largest unexcavated cliff dwelling in the park.

Normally, to reach the site, visitors have to take an 8-mile-long ranger-led tour that lasts 8 hours.

But this bear decided to do it all on his own, touring the 86 rooms and 7 kivas that are usually off-limits to guests on his way to the seep spring.

Have you been on any tours and seen a funny-looking camera near the back of the alcove? These are wildlife cameras...

A camera in one of the alcoves captured his recent walk through the ruins.

Ranger-led tours for people are offered only in May and from the middle of September to October 12.
