Anderson Hopes For Lots Of Orange At Qualcomm Stadium

DENVER (CBS4) - The last time the Broncos faced the Chargers in San Diego it was almost like a home game.

"Can you believe all the orange in that stadium?" Vic Lombardi asked linebacker Brandon Marshall and running back C.J. Anderson on the CBS4 Football Blitz.

"We're hoping with our cadence we can draw them offsides," Anderson said with a smile. "It's like a home game, that's how we look at it."

The Broncos game against the Chargers kicks off at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday.

"Does it really make that much of a difference?" Lombardi asked, referring to having a quiet crowd when you're on offense.

"It's huge," Anderson said. "When you can't hear and you're yelling and (using the) silent count and receivers are watching the ball so you might be that step slow. When you know the snap count and you can hear, we can go."

Lombardi asked his guests for an opinion on the Chargers' Qualcomm Stadium on the show.

"I think they just need a new stadium," Marshall said. "It's not terrible, but ..."

"The locker rooms are terrible," Anderson interrupted.

"Okay, they need a new stadium and a new locker room," Marshall said.

Marshall and Anderson said the visiting players at the stadium have to share lockers.

"And this is the National Football League?" Lombardi said.

"Hey man, talk to them," Anderson laughed.

Marshall said the Broncos know they have a challenge in facing Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers, the No. 2 passer in the league right now. But he said the defense also has to watch out for tight end Antonio Gates and running back Danny Woodhead.

"The backs and the tight ends, that's (Rivers') safety valve," Marshall said. "He's going to check the ball down to those guys a lot, so we have to be on them."

During the show Marshall also revealed that he was close by when Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was yelling at an official during last Sunday night's game, and that Brady definitely deserved a penalty for his choice of words.

"I walked up to the ref and I told him 'Throw the flag, you going to let him talk to you like that?'" Marshall said.

No flag was thrown.

"It's because he's Tom Brady," Marshall said.
