Al-Turki Asking For Release From Prison
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - A Saudi man convicted of sexually assaulting his housekeeper and treating her as a virtual slave is trying to get his sentence reduced.
A hearing was being held Thursday in Centennial to discuss the sentence for Homaidan al-Turki. He wants a judge to release him from prison and allow him to serve probation instead.
Al-Turki was originally sentenced to a minimum of 28 years in prison but that was reduced to a minimum of 8 years in 2011. Earlier this year, former state prisons director Tom Clements denied al-Turki's request to serve out his sentence in Saudi Arabia because he's refused to undergo sex offender treatment.
