The health department says the risk to people in the area is still low.
The case remains isolated, and risk to residents remains low, officials said.
The CDC has already confirmed 113 monkeypox cases in the U.S. and 15 of the cases are in Illinois.
As of Monday, the city has now identified seven confirmed cases of monkeypox this year, and the city is working with the Illinois Department of Public Health and other local public health agencies to identify other potential cases.
The patient traveled to a country with recently confirmed cases, according to DCHD and IDPH.
15 states have confirmed cases of monkeypox.
The second probable case of the virus in Illinois was a close contact of the first case.
Public health officials said they are working with the CDC and the patient's doctors to identify anyone he might have been in contact with while he was infectious.
