As migrants continue to arrive in Chicago, the city is scrambling to find more housing options – with the latest temporary shelter opening in Pilsen. CBS 2's Marybel Gonzalez reports.

CBS 2's Shardaa Gray spoke with Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez (25th) before the meeting where they'll talk about two shelters. One for migrants and one to address homelessness.
"This is a humanitarian need given that we have children right now at police stations. Many children already have chronic bronchitis. They have complications at birth from mothers, who had to give birth in inhumane conditions."

CBS 2's Mugo Odigwe reports the city has released the latest numbers on the situation, and as of Sunday, Chicago has received more than 16,500 new migrant arrivals.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability said it has not been able to substantiate any claims that officers engaged in sexual misconduct with asylum seekers at two police stations.
More than 15,000 migrants have arrived in Chicago since last August. Shelters and police stations are at or near capacity.

"With a lack of existing buildings to put people in, I know the city has looked at this as one of its options, but I don't think this is the only option," Pritzker said.

Since starting their operations in May of 2023, they've moved more than 800 households from city-run shelters into more permanent housing.
