"Conditions were worse than a whiteout (if that's possible)," Mackinac Island's fire chief said about Sunday's rescue of a snowmobiler.

The Race to Mackinac is famous and helps shine a light on the unique Michigan community that is Mackinac Island. Steph Castelein, the managing director of the island's tourism board, joined us to tell us more about it.
The 2025 Mackinac Island sailboat race hosted by the Chicago Yacht Club kicked off Friday afternoon.
The competition started in 1898 with just five boats; this year, there are 250 sailboats and more than 2,200 sailors.

The 333-mile race from Chicago to Mackinac Island in Michigan is the oldest annual freshwater race.
The regatta brings the best sailors from around the world to Chicago.
"Back then, there was quite a bit of money on the race, quite a bit of gambling, and so there were some thoughts about maybe those with influence maybe wanted to change the outcome in their favor."
The 333-mile race from Chicago to Mackinac Island, Michigan, is steeped in tradition, and it also runs in the family for a couple of sisters hoping to return the family name to sailing glory. CBS 2's Noel Brennan shares their story.
